I’m currently working on several scripts for stage and radio. My agent is Lisa Foster at Alan Brodie Representation.
Stage
During my Skillset-accredited Scriptwriting MA at the University of East Anglia, I developed the stage play AN ACT OF DESTRUCTION, inspired by the American Jihad Jane controversy.
I was a member of the 2003 Soho Theatre Young Writers’ Group and my play UNDER MY SKIN was given a rehearsed reading, directed by Nina Steiger. It subsequently won the Oxford New Writing Festival 2004 (judges Suzanne Bell and Ruth Little) and was performed at Oxford’s Burton-Taylor Theatre, as well as at the Hen and Chickens Theatre in London by KDC Theatre Company in 2008. I was invited to join the Soho’s Core Group in 2004, developing TRUTH OR DARE with dramaturge Suzanne Gorman.
I also participated in the Gate Theatre’s young writers’ programme in 2000-2 and several of my plays were workshopped with Gate actors, including GETTING ON, THE NECKLACE, ANNA AKHMATOVA and SECRETS. THE NECKLACE, an adaptation of a Guy de Maupassant short story, was also performed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2002.
GETTING ON was performed in 2004 by Know Your Onions at the Wilmslow Festival of One Act Plays, winning the Syd Mence Cup for Theatre Magic, and at the Battersea Arts Centre by the Rose Bruford College of Drama.
In 2005, I wrote musical review THE TRINITY PANTOMIME for Trinity College, Oxford, and I was subsequently commissioned to write the biographical play I MUST GET ON for the college’s 450th anniversary show.
I was invited to create a short opera with composer David Moore for the Royal Opera House’s Vox programme in 2011 and DO NO HARM was workshopped at the Jerwood Space.
Radio
I have recently produced a 45-minute radio play, RETROSPECTIVE, inspired by the late artist Lucian Freud and the women in his life, which is aimed at BBC Radio 4’s Afternoon Drama slot.
I collaborated with other Gate Theatre writers on radio play LOST TIME, which featured in the Tabernacle’s 2002 show In Translation.
I am currently developing several other radio projects.
Other
I also write fiction and poetry. My short story CHER JOURNAL was published by Piccadilly Press in 1999 after winning a national competition and my poem YOU LAURA won the 2002 Surrealist writing competition Stealing Fire.
