Strictly Series 17 opened with a show surprisingly light on first dance nerves – if anything, some celebrities were too exuberant – and plenty of exciting potential.

  1. Ah Marianka, how I loved your Strictly posts which I read devotedly in the Dancing Times. Alas, they are now behind a paywall at the Daily Telegraph and I really do not want to subscribe to the Torygraph so I will miss all your astute observations and witty comments.
    I feel bereft
